THERE SHOULD TOTALLY BE A SUPERHERO MUSICAL

Are you aware that many of your favorite superhero actors have either been on Broadway or on Glee or both? Some are just crazy talented and deserve more of a chance to show it off. The most obvious example of course is Hugh Jackman.

He's the best there is at what he does. And what he does is look pretty

Hugh has been on Broadway, he's won a Tony, and he was Oscar nominated for his wonderful performance in Les Miserables.  He's a great actor, a great singer, and then there's this:

We live in the golden age of comic book movies

For real let's get a superhero musical going. There's plenty of talent out there! Let's take a look at the list:

CHRISTIAN BALE/BATMAN - NEWSIES
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPIjH0k09hY

Yeah that's right. Freaking Batman. He can sing. And he's damn good at it too. I'm a little surprised that he hasn't been on Broadway recently. Or maybe he has and everyone has been keeping this from me . . .

GRANT GUSTIN/THE FLASH - GLEE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmFUaxZadI8

Fastest man alive. Great dancer. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. He looks like a Warbler even without the blazer. Yes . . . Once upon a time I was a fan of Glee and I still kind of am . . . Don't judge me!

MELISSA BENOIST/SUPERGIRL - GLEE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04ckHe7y238

We have yet to see her in action as Supergirl but we already know she has some talent. The cast of Glee works very hard learning dance moves, lyrics, and how to look really sad despite singing and dancing through life. But hey, it's high school. I guess everyone is pouty and full of song.

NATHAN FILLION/GREEN LANTERN (voice) - DR. HORRIBLE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN3eBvZvUXk

I don't think there's anything that Nathan Fillion can't do. He's handsome, funny, talented, and just an all around nice guy. He's played Green Lantern in a couple of the DC animated Justice League movies. He was also a fan favorite for the live action part. Maybe someday . . .

HUGH JACKMAN/WOLVERINE - LES MISERABLES
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvRtKMxc88Q

Well I could go on all day about how talented this motherfucker is. But I'm not gonna do that. And admit it, you'd go see a Wolverine musical. That would be awesome.

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS/SPIDER-MAN (voice) - DR HORRIBLE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdm5x0BqM80

Neil Patrick Harris is crazy talented. Good actor. Good singer. Good dancer. Magician (seriously). He's already been in a superhero musical. Twice actually - Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog and Batman: the Brave and the Bold - Mayhem of the Music Meister. If my superhero musical gets made, I want Neil front and center. Also he was Doogie Howser . . . I just wanted to remind everyone of that.

CHRIS PRATT/STAR-LORD - PARKS AND RECREATION
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NbBGrBxRhs

Ok so Pratt's character is a big goofball in Parks and Recreation. He's the lead singer of the weirdly named Mouserat. He may not be trying to sound really good or sincere but I can tell he's got some talent.

BUT!

Let's not forget the villains! Or else our superhero musical would be pretty boring wouldn't it?

HEATH LEDGER/JOKER - 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7N6kB11GpE

RIP Heath. Gone from this world too soon. So full of talent. I mean just look at this scene! He's bursting with talent. Such a shame . . . But he was amazing and his Joker was the best thing ever!

JENNIFER LAWRENCE/MYSTIQUE - THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKAM_Hk4eZ0

Here's another actor too talented for her own good. I was quite surprised when Lawrence started singing during Mockingjay. I was more surprised when she was actually pretty good. I mean come on here! It's not enough to be beautiful and an Oscar winner?

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS/THE MUSIC MEISTER (voice) - BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_q1SdaWLlw

Yeah I already mentioned him for the heroes but he can play two parts! I will allow this to happen because it will make my super-musical amazing.

I've always had a love of musicals. I can't help but sing along when my iPod is on shuffle. And I love finding out that some of my favorite actors are also talented singers. Maybe someday I'll make it to New York and produce my wacky, superhero musical. I'm sure that some other heroes and villains have great voices, they just need a chance to shine . . .

Yepp . . . my man Stephen Amell. What a guy . . . Let's get him in a musical!

Till Next Time!
